The Village Justice Court is located in the Menands Municipal Building. The Courtroom is located on the 2nd floor. The Village Justice is elected to a four-year term. The Acting Justice is appointed to a one year term by the Mayor with approval by the Board of Trustees.
Our Court has two Justices which preside over all Court proceedings, the Honorable Lisa Anne Proskin and the Honorable Robert A. Becher.

The Menands Village Court is responsible for traffic matters, criminal matters, civil matters, environmental conservation matters, local law matters and small claims actions occurring in the Village of Menands.
The Court hears parking and traffic tickets – both violations and misdemeanors, including Driving While Intoxicated cases. Along with traffic matters, the Court also presides over criminal matters that take place within the Village. The court also hears evictions brought by landlords; and small claims brought by individuals who feel they are owed monies.
The Justice Court office is charged with collecting the fines imposed by the Judges on various cases. The Court also maintains records of all cases brought before the court.
Location and Directions
The Menands Village Court is located in the Municipal Building at 250 Broadway. We are located in the same building as the Menands Police and Fire Departments.
From NY State Thruway – to exit 23, follow signs for I787 North to exit 6 (Menands), proceed to the end of the exit ramp, at the traffic light take a right onto Broadway, proceed to the next traffic light (intersection of Broadway and Brookside Avenue) and take left, once you make that left you will pull directly into the parking area.
From I787 South- to exit 7, at the end of the ramp take a left at the
traffic light onto Broadway, you should proceed to second traffic light our building will be on the right. Take right onto Brookside and immediately another right into the parking area.
From I90 East- to I787 exit N, then follow I787 North. (see above)
The Court Clerk’s Office
The Court Clerk’s office is responsible for maintaining Justice record’s and reports. Paperwork and fines are accepted during regular court clerk hours which are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m.
Accepted payment methods are credit card, money order, certified bank checks or cash.
Please note that the Court Clerk’s office is separate and independent of the Clerk/Treasurer’s Office. Fines and questions concerning the Justice Court can only be accepted in the Court Clerk’s Office.
