Mayor’s Message – August

  September 21, 2016

The 2016 Summer Concert Series and Village Picnic were a huge success. Mother Nature was very generous with perfect weather for each event resulting in a great turnout for the season. A very special thank you goes to the MFC, DPW and MPD for their participation at the concerts, and also at the Village Picnic. Together with the Village Board, Youth, Seniors, Auxiliary, Clerk John Berry and the Library, the picnic was a wonderful time. This annual community event offers many fun activities for the kids, food and beverages provided by our organizations, neighbors getting together and everyone enjoying awesome music. I’m already looking forward to next season.

We are very fortunate to have a dedicated staff in Menands. There are so many great things happening in our Village and without the support of Village Board members; Deputy Mayor Aileen Nicoll and Trustees Seth Harris, Diane Foley and Steve Boulet, as well as our workforce, the positive direction that things are moving in would not be possible. I took an opportunity at the Village Picnic to thank everyone for their hard work, acknowledging the dept. heads on behalf of our employees and would like to do so again here. My job as Mayor would not be possible without the commitment of our employees. I am very grateful and thank all who work in various capacities for the Village.

With school about to start soon and the hours of daylight getting shorter please be patient and cautious near school buses and crosswalks. The safety of our residents, as always, is a priority. I wish students of all age levels and teachers and staff a safe and successful school year.

Enjoy the rest of the summer.

Until next time,
Mayor Meg
