A special thank you to the Picnic Committee, Menands Fire Co., Auxiliary, Library, Seniors, Youth, Historian Kevin Franklin, Menands School (especially Superintendent, Dr. Maureen Long, Principal, Antonietta Schroeder and Art Teacher Pat Testo), Police Dept., DPW, Gardener Dianne MacFarland, Hudson Shores Rotary, Menands Farmers Market, Brad Gallotta and The Barrel Saloon (for use of their shuttle bus), Leslie Carolus, Barb Weidman, Kerry Wroblewski, Sheila Hyatt, Craig Scott, Bill Giering and all of the vendors for your participation in the picnic. Congratulations to the CDCCC for a successful Monster Mile. Also, thank you to our local representatives for their attendance and recognition of our 90th Anniversary; Town Supervisor Paula Mahan, Albany County Executive Dan McCoy, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan, NYS Assemblyman Phil Steck and County Legislator Alison McLean-Lane. And to the residents, past and present, it is always great to see everyone together.

As part of the Village Emergency Preparedness Plan, Albany County’s Emergency Management Team will be coming to Menands to train residents interested in assisting with setting up a shelter in the event of an emergency. If interested, please contact Village Clerk, John Berry @434-2922 and leave your name and contact number by September 12, 2014. You will be contacted directly with details.

With a new school year beginning this week, please be aware of kids walking to school or waiting for the bus. Slow down in school zones and stop for buses picking up or dropping off the students. Safety First!!!
