Community to Survey Residents of South End Neighborhood
Village of Menands, May 8, 2017

The Village of Menands is exploring the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to support the cost of replacing water mains in the South End Neighborhood. The Village intends to conduct confidential surveys of local households to determine income limits to verify if the project is eligible for funding.

Mayor Megan Grenier indicated “It is important that residents participate in the survey so that we can position ourselves to secure state funds in support of this project, protecting our water quality and our budget.”

The Village will use a consulting firm to conduct a mailing to residents of the neighborhood. All surveys will be handled by a third party to protect the confidentiality of the information. Residents will be asked to complete and return a one page form to document the eligibility. Depending on the return rate of the surveys, the Village may go door to door to complete and collect the surveys.

The Village is targeting the South End Neighborhood which is comprised of portions of Wolfert, Amsterdam and Hendrick Avenues, as well as Highland, Hampton, North Pearl, Hutton, Kingston and Pawling Streets and adjacent areas. The water system in this area of the Village is some the oldest infrastructure in the Village and in need of replacement.

Surveys will be mailed the week of May 15. 2017.
