The Village of Menands has been very active regarding new and redeveloped commercial construction. Being centrally located to major cities and highways, word is spreading that Menands is the place to be. We are very proud of the commitment we have made to encourage development, while creating a business friendly environment. Here are some highlights of projects that have recently been undertaken in Menands: ALBANY LOFTS AT ONE BROADWAY (FORMER ALBANY INTERNATIONAL BUILDING) The Harmony Group, LLC has refurbished the former Albany International site into 145 apartments as part of a beautiful, gated, high end residential property. The grounds were fully restored to their former beauty with the result being a park-like setting complete with recreational improvements for the use of the residents. This $30M project was the largest in the history of Menands. FAMILY DOLLAR The Family Dollar built a new 9,200 square foot facility at 22 Broadway, moving from the Mid-City Shopping Center. The Village is pleased that Family Dollar realized the potential of staying in Menands. PEAK PERFORMANCE CHIROPRACTIC Following a full renovation, Peak Performance Chiropractic opened for business at 319 Broadway. IL FARO RESTAURANT Owners Christian and Jessica brought their vision of opening a restaurant in a close-knit community to Menands. Transforming the former Other Co. Restaurant into an elegant, casual atmosphere, this traditional Italian Restaurant is a local favorite. 50 SIMMONS LANE A new 60,000 square foot warehouse and office building was constructed at 50 Simmons Lane. Sky Zone Trampoline Center occupies part of the facility and features a variety of recreational opportunities for youngsters and adults. RAD SOAP COMPANY The RAD Soap Company, a manufacturer of medicinal and specialty soaps, relocated their business from Troy to 4 Wolfert Avenue. Renovating the building for production of their products, this growing family business is expanding quickly. MOHAWK HUDSON HUMANE SOCIETY The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society has undertaken the construction of a brand new 32,000 square foot, state of the art animal care facility. For nearly 130 years, the MHHS has been the leader in animal protection and the new space emphasizes efficiency and functionality, devoting the majority of the space to animal care. Seeking opportunities to expand, the MHHS decided that staying in Menands was the best option. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Economic development is an ongoing and exciting process. This ever growing list is just a sample of the projects happening in Menands and we are grateful for the commitment of existing businesses in upgrading and renovating their facilities, and for the new development that continues. We look forward to continued growth of our Village.
